Saffron is an ancient spice derived from the stigmas and stamens (tiny delicate reproductive parts) of the crocus flower. It has been highly valued for thousands of years as a delicious culinary spice and also as a powerful herbal medicine. Since it takes about a football field worth of hand picked crocus flowers to produce just one single pound of Saffron, it has become one the most precious and expensive natural food substances traded and used by humans dating back to the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Indians and biblical times.*

Saffron is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory herb.

It is generally regarded as a valuable functional food that can be used to help maintain good health when taken in small quantities.

Saffron is also thought to have general cleansing and detoxing properties.*

According to research, Saffron is believed to support good circulation, healthy blood vessels as well as purifying the blood, supporting mood, sleep and mental functions, reduce aches and pains, especially menstrual discomfort, support libido and appetite control for weight loss.*
